I've seen a lot of scams in various countries all over the world, and what sickens me more is the fact that they prey on unsuspecting consumers that only want to get the best from their hard-earned money. I made this blog to help the people out there AVOID these elaborate scams. To tell you honestly, I’ve been a victim myself and I want to get back on these shady businesses/companies, and the best way to do it is to INFORM people on what they need to know.

Once they know the facts and figures regarding a certain company who engages in unethical business practices, then they will avoid doing business with that particular company or at least be more cautious in dealing with them. One particular scam that I would like to point out is BahnCard which is being offered by Deutsche Bahn (German Railway). BahnCard is a discount subscription program that entitles the passenger/subscriber to a discount and must be purchased before travelling.

It may seem beneficial for the frequent traveller to Germany, since you will be entitled to a discounted fare. However, the subscription is automatically renewed every year, and there is no prior notice for the renewal. You will be obligated to pay for your subscription even if you haven’t used BahnCard at all, or in most cases where the subscriber had moved to another country, he/she will still be billed by Deutsche Bahn.

My unfortunate experience with this company started when I moved to Dubai, UAE. It’s obvious that I won’t be using BahnCard so I’ve sent them several emails informing them that I’ve transferred to the UAE, but instead they sent my bill to a third party collection agency. As you can see it just got more expensive, since the collection agency will charge me more for the bill plus their services in handling it. Well, it feels like I was scammed and harassed.

They also emailed me about a week ago, but to no avail – I got disgusted with their reply. To be honest, it was a sarcastic reply to my previous inquiries regarding their service and why it took so long for them to terminate my subscription. Well, they told me that I should have cancelled it 6 weeks before the card expired. They also claimed that they haven’t received any cancellation email from me. Now, talk about customer service and customer relations. Why do they need to LIE? I am certain and there’s no reason for me to force the issue if I didn’t really sent those emails, which I DID and I know they received it! But they blatantly deny it…

It really felt like you’re being forced to join a sect that you can’t get out of. At this point, I’m furious and I hope you guys think long and hard before getting a BahnCard. Forcing someone to pay for the renewal of his/her subscription even if they moved to another location doesn’t seem right, especially if that individual already sent a cancellation letter.

If you’ve been a victim like me and you want to join a group complaint against BahnCard, then you might want to check this site - http://bahncard-betrug.blogspot.com/
